Our Mission

The Village Microschool is intentionally small in class size in order to devote the necessary attention to establish meaningful relationships and deliver personalized core instruction at the developmentally appropriate pace of the unique child. Children are encouraged to become leaders of their learning by participating in on-going goal setting and self reflection.
Children of mixed ages build self confidence working both independently and collaboratively. The engagement in activities of interdisciplinary studies is through hands-on exploratory methods such as inquiry, project and play-based learning in connection with practical life and foundational skills.
Children are immersed in a rich, thoughtfully prepared, flexible environment where they are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of themselves, our community and the world we live in. Significant time is spent outdoors exploring nature in all the elements.
Social-emotional learning is highly valued, with authentic opportunities for learning embedded in our daily interactions and experiences. While encouraging independence and autonomy, children participate in an environment that promotes kindness, empathy and inclusion. Mindfulness is practiced as a tool to support well being, in addition to the use of coping strategies for self regulation.
At The Village, we are passionate about the importance of parental, familial, and community involvement in a child's education, and promote a strong sense of belonging within our modern day schoolhouse.
